Малый Житный остров

В западной части Венгрии скорость жизни увеличилась – повсюду. Ветряные мельницы, автомагистрали, крупные города и промышленные парки. Однако, что-то скрывается между всём за всем этим? На одной стороне этого региона находится сегодняшний Малый Житный остров. Покидая Альпы и Карпаты, Дунай образует материковую дельту, являющейся уникальной для Европы.

На равнине река разветвляется на широкие рукава, где формируется несравненная фауна. В наше время река не может изменять свой курс так же свободно, как это было в старые времена. Решающие изменения произошли около двадцати лет назад, когда было изменено русло реки и построена ГЭС в Габчиково. При виде всех изменений в окрестностях возникает очевидный вопрос: может ли фауна сохранить свое прежнее изобилие?

In the Western access areas to Hungary life has speeded up - there are wind-mills, motorways, big cities and industrial parks all over the place. Yet, something is hiding between them. This is an enormous cone-shaped alluvial deposit with tiny villages, forests, and river branches. On one side of this region is today’s Szigetköz.

Flowing out of the Alps and Carpathians the Danube River created this land delta unique in Europe. Arriving at the plain the river broke into wide branches where unparalleled fauna developed. These days the river cannot change its course as freely as it used to in the old days. The decisive change came about some twenty years ago with the diversion of the river and the building of the hydroelectric plant of Gabcikovo. Seeing the grip of the built up surroundings the question is obvious: can the fauna preserve its former abundance?

Szabolcs Mosonyi, is a director,cameraman. He was born in Budapest in 1970. He received his university degree as a teacher of biology and geography in 1994. His interest in nature and to share this knowledge was shown at the beginning as an amateur nature photographer, and later as a producer of nature films. He and his wife, Ms. Erika Bagladi began to deal with documentary film making more seriously in 2000. The films they produced in those days were works of keen amateurs. They made them during excursions and trips. The topics were the flood-area of the Danube, the Tatra Mountains and other districts of the Carpathian Basin and the animals living there. They founded NatFilm Hungary Ltd. in 2011 as a business venture. The main profile of this venture is the production of nature and nature conservation films. The works of Mr. Szabolcs Mosonyi are shown by a number of foreign and domestic television channels, in cinemas and they won dozens of domestic and international festival awards.
